The Green Party candidate for Loughborough will be Wesley Walton. Wes, a Mechanical Engineering student at Loughborough University, 22, has been the Young Greens Coordinator for the East Midlands and stood for the Green Party in this year's local elections, coming third in Loughborough Storer ward.
"I would like to represent the interests of all Loughborough residents at Westminster" Wes says "and as a young person, I am very concerned about climate breakdown and the environmental and social impacts it will have, I feel very well placed to fight for the interests of the generation that is going to have to clear up this mess."
Cllr Laurie Needham - Charnwood Borough Councillor for East Goscote
Laurie was born and raised in Charnwood.
Her professional background is in social care and she has a young family which attends the local school in East Goscote. She is well known in East Goscote for her hard work and commitment to village issues, such as preventing inappropriate house building and working to reduce speeding.
Laurie serves on the parish council and as a volunteer library trustee.
Laurie has a track record of standing up for people and community and fighting against cuts to services. Most recently she has worked hard to keep the library open in East Goscote, campaigned against cuts to a bus route which has left elderly and vulnerable people isolated and worked on a cross-party, grassroots campaign to save Children's Centres in the County.
Cllr Billy Richards - Parish Councillor for Sileby
Billy has been an active member for Loughborough Green Party since 2015, he has been involved with numerous elections campaigns and standing for election in 2 previous local elections. In the 2019 Borough Council elections, Billy came third narrowly missing out on being elected.
He is active within his community and has been a Parish Councillor since 2017 and has been involved in Sileby's Neighbourhood Plan and the Parish Council website redesign and social media accounts.
Recently Billy and members of Sileby community have created a Youth Club in Sileby and providing a positive impact on the young people of Sileby.
