A recent report in the Loughborough Echo states that the lockdown imposed from 5th January has resulted in a reduction in traffic of 40%. This is comparable to the lockdown in Novemeber, which saw a reduction of 30%.
However both fall below the 65% reduction in pre-pandemic traffic that was seen in March.
Lower traffic has mryiad benefits to our local area, from less air pollution to quieter and safer streets. Have you noticed the difference?
At the Loughborough and Northwest Leicestshire Green Party we are concerned about the air pollution in our local areas and are very interested to see if local air monitors record a signifcant change in air quality during lockdown.
if you would like to talk to the green party about how you can work for a better, greener country, please get in touch.
