Greens will fight for Green recovery from the coronavirus pandemic in Loughborough

"Leicestershire County Council should invest in new industries supporting a sustainable future. We should use the knowledge base of the local universities and the legacy of engineering skills to lead the country out of the Covid depression with wide-ranging opportunities which support a green recovery." -  Paul Goodman, candidate for Loughborough South West.

The Green Party believes in greater control for local communities and if elected we would:

  • Give local authorities the power to direct newly created training and skills programmes, like apprenticeships, and to decide how related funding is spent.
  • Create a network of regional mutual banks to provide funding for start-up companies (particularly co-operatives, community interest companies and other non-profit businesses) developing technologies which contribute to decarbonising our economy.
